New Zealand Recommendations

Accommodation

We were pleased and would recommend the following places we stayed at:-

Tongariro - The Adventure Lodge & Motel

Friendly & chatty owners. We used their Tongariro Crossing Package & got the "Just Done it!" T-shirt.

Kaiteriteri - Torlesse Motel

Well situated for exploring the Abel Tasman NP. Nice large apartment.

Kaikoura - Bayview Homestay

Delightful stay, one of the first and possibly the best B&B in NZ. The breakfast is made up of almost all home-produced items (eggs, tomatoes, bread, jams, etc.). There is even a book about the owner, Margaret Woodhill. Long may she welcome guests!

Queenstown - The B&B on the Hill

Well appointed room with spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu & the mountains from our bedroom.

Otago Peninsula - Allan's Beach Farmstay

Stayed in quaint, old fashioned wooden cottage on a working farm. The owner gave us an interesting evening wildlife tour of parts of the peninsula.

Excursions

We were pleased and would recommend the following excursions we took:-

Around Rotorua we thoroughly enjoyed the Middle Earth Trilogy visiting the Waitomo Caves, Hobbiton Movie Set and Te Puia for the Maori Experience & Geysers.

The Heli-Hike on to Fox Glacier was a most memorable experience, we had never been on a glacier before.

We were just so lucky to have ideal weather for our Milford Sound overnight cruise on the Milford Mariner
