Peak District 2021

In September 2021 as soon as the COVID-19 restrictions were being lifted we considered it safe to have a short break in the Peak District with our friend Jo. We had some interesting treks as well as a visit to the medieval Haddon Hall.

The Lantern Pike walk was the obvious walk to start off with seeing as how we stayed at the Lantern Pike Inn.

The Kinder Scout Mass Trespass Walk which took place in 1932 was a pivotal event in the fight for public access to the open countryside in this country. Beyond paying homage to those trailblazers it made a great walk round the Kinder Reservoir.

Haddon Hall

The origins of Haddon Hall go back to the Domesday Book. It is a large rambling mansion by the River Wye in Derbyshire.

Luckily in the Reformation the chapel walls were whitewashed over,
preserving the underlying decorations.

No it is not the angle – Haddon Hall is built on a hillside
