Cuba Photos:-

Varadero is a thin peninsular, 12 miles long with gorgeous white sandy beaches. No wonder it  is Cuba's top beach resort.

The Mansion Xanadu was built by a wealthy American (of the Dupont chemical family) on the back of the gambling & prostitution gains in the area in the early half of the last century.

Theses caves have pre-Colombian rock paintings. The large colony of bats made for added interest.

Roots of the above-ground vegetation formed a strange natural curtain within the cave complex.

Adjoining the Cueva de Ambrosio, there was a small nature reserve with a "Muslims Trail". They issue a charming leaflet about the trail, including the following gem about the Maguey plant (also known as the Mescal plant):- "Maguey: their alcoholic content was good to make the fish drunk, facilitating the fishing. It dies from love with their first and only flower."

We managed to see this iguana scuttling away as well as a couple of snakes, including the Cuban Boa!

We can thoroughly recommend this hotel (another "all inclusive" type), except for its cringeable evening entertainment.
