Australia 2019 -Reflections

Freeway Hotel?

No, it is a large arty Freeway sculpture to keep drivers amused

The red roadsign says "Wrong Way Go Back"

Our car was usually the only one in carparks in Kakadu NP

This was the highest temperature we endured in the Northern Territory NPs

so no wonder we were often the only ones trekking - a case of "Mad Dogs & Englishmen go out in the midday sun"

A quaint store in Fremantle, Kamaceuticals

The shop signage incorporates the chemical structure for cannabis

Some of the trains were very long indeed - making for lengthy haults

In the Northern Territory we expected warning signs for crocodiles

- but not for buffaloes

Take two - in Bukbukluk Lookout, Kakadu NP

In Australia swans are black not white - why?

Can you eat swans in Australia - you can't in the UK - the monarch would not be amused!

Green tree frogs are cute in the wild ...

... but not in the loo in our Litchfield NP cabin

The emus assume they can share your picnic in the Tower Hill Reserve

The Chocolaterie on the Great Ocean Road near Torquay

Norah's harsh appraisal of one of the wines in a wineries' Cellar Door

A startling glass sculpture in the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth

The 2019 winner of the Tom Malone Prize was Mark Eliott's Down at the Water Table

The photo below is Mark Eliott's Down at the Water Table - upside down
