The Cathedral is the mother church of Vienna built in the Romanesque / Gothic style.

It has a magnificent multi-coloured tiled roof: apparently nearly a quarter of a million tiles are up there.

Not just a pretty tall tower. The 445ft spire was used as the main observation and command post for the defence of the city in the siege of Vienna in 1529. Nothing like a bit of help "from up above" when attacked by the Ottomans!

When the surrounding cemetery was cleared away, some of the grave stones were incorporated into the outside walls.

In my opinion the grand High Baroque sits uncomfortably within a Gothic space. However it makes for an interesting photo.

No its closed - what you see  are the outside shutters.

Underneath the altarpiece is a small, horizontal copy of the Turin Shroud. Anyone know why its there?

The striking, late 15th century tomb is made from an unusual, red marble-like stone and is one of the most important works of sculptural art of the late Middle Ages.
