Our cruise ship was very comfortable, even if the cabins were built for midgets.
Those needles went 2" into my shoulder joints. I didn't particularly feel them, until every few minutes Dr Zhang would tweak them. Ouch.
The Dam is enormous. When we went, they were building the first half, up to the island in the middle of the Yangtze. As the photo shows, we could hardly see the other end (back to the air pollution problems!).
Even though Ann wasn't feeling great on the day, the sight was enough to raise a smile.
There was little regard to Health & Safety. A couple of steps back and you can see how far I would have fallen down.
I would hate to have been responsible for bringing any little children here.
This lock is about a mile long and will be able to take large ocean-going ships through it.
A city along the Yangtze that will have a lot of its population displaced by the Three Gorges Dam. The official figure is that about one million people will have been displaced by the rise of the Yangtze. Everyone we spoke to seemed to think that it was going to be few million at least.
Another stop off point to sightsee and browse the local markets.
Again, most of these buildings will be under the Yangtze.
