The family - and Russell - spent a very enjoyable Xmas at Karen's in the centre of Bratislava. As you can see, it's certainly chilly there in late December.

Strolling round the old parts of Bratislava is always a good way to work off the effects of a large meal.

Very gaudy in shocking pink.

A 10 minute walk from Karen's apartment is the President's Palace. A very formal 18th century Baroque building.

I like the ornate gates.

The "Usual Suspects" pose. You may just notice the Euro logo emblazoned on the building behind me in this photo. Unfortunately for my wallet, Slovakia joining the Euro-zone means it is no longer the cheap place to visit that it used to be.

Russell enjoying the bracing weather at one of the highest points in the city.

On a clear sunny day there are tremendous views from here, but unfortunately not on the day we went. Maybe next time?
