Queenstown was a 6 hour drive from Fox Glacier.
The town on the shores of the long z-shaped glacial lake, Lake Wakatipu is the adventure sports capital of NZ.
We stayed in a great B&B overlooking the lake. However it was a steep walk down to the harbour, so after late evening meals, it was definitely a Taxi ride back up.
This 100-year old charming steamship is still plying up & down the lake on a daily basis.
A chill-out experience - much better than sky-diving (say).
A large old farm has now been turned into a pleasant tourist venue.
The obligatory sheep shearing demonstration. You had to feel sorry for the sheep being shorn at the wrong time of year, just for our entertainment.
Always fun to feed animals. So ticklish!
A long cable car ride (730m) takes you to the best view point for Queenstown and the Lake. There are various activities - such as bungee jumping & paragliding from the top. We just enjoyed watching rather than participating.
