On the way to visit Eleanor & family in Leeds we decided to pay a visit to Hull – for no better reason than neither of us had visited the city and also it was that year’s City of Culture. Unfortunately even though we went in June the weather was not kind to us: windy & chilly.
Hull (or Kingston upon Hull to give it its full name) is an ancient seafaring city known (according to their tourist board) as Yorkshire’s Maritime city. But it is 25 miles from the North Sea!
The city has some fine old buildings which it uses as a backdrop for its growing film industry. (Don’t mention Hullywood…….) In fact leaving our apartment one evening I wondered about the floating car by the waterfront until later that evening I noticed that it was being used as a film prop.
