Battersea Power Station
What do you do with a disused power station in central London? You can’t tear it down if it is listed! To add to the problem there are two on the banks of the Thames: Bankside & Battersea. Bankside has been successfully turned into Tate Modern. However Battersea was lying derelict for many years after it was decommissioned in 1983. A consortium of Malaysian investors have invested in the site and in 2022 opened it to the public. It now houses a shopping mall, offices, an hotel, apartments and it even has a viewing platform atop one of the towers. There is a great buzz to the area.
