In March 2016 we took an organised tour to Indochina visiting Vietnam (the main part of the holiday) as well as Laos and Cambodia. Three very different countries.
A very small country whose history has been dominated by its martial neighbours. Nevertheless this very Buddhist country was quite different in culture and general ambience to both Vietnam & Cambodia. We enjoyed our stay here the most out of the three Indochinese countries we visited on this trip.
In terms of the built environment the Buddhist temples figure very prominently in Laos. What didn't figure quite so prominently were the elephants. We expected to see more in the land of the "1,000,000 Elephants". We only glimpsed a few by the Mekong.
