Cambodia Reflections

Pub Street Siem Reap

After Vietnam and particularly Laos, I am afraid that I did not enjoy Cambodia. Obviously the only reason we visited the country was to see Angkor temples. However the people we met were not welcoming. This could well be influenced by our very arrogant guide who was not interested in his job or the well being of his group. This was the only time that I (& as far as I know some of the others) ever subsequently complained to the tour company (VJV) about our tour guide. Also what we saw of the living conditions did not inspire me. I think that the country still needs to come to terms as to how it allowed the Khmer Rouge genocide.  Hardly anyone has been called to account since. Shame.
