We cruised on the very pleasant MS Sherry Boat. We thought that we were being particularly special travelling in style by choosing a 5* ship, until we found out that most of the 300+ cruise ships on the Nile are classified as 5*.

A Dahabeah is a smaller and much more old fashioned way to sail the Nile.

The time-honoured way to sail the Nile is on a Felucca. Though we did a short trip round Lord Kitchener’s Island at Aswan, unfortunately we did not fancy a week on such a basic vessel.

The balloon rides over the Valley of the Kings are at dawn, before the heat of the day sets in.

Every day the cleaners of our cabin left our towels in imaginative shapes in our rooms. Quite charming & fun. We have a few of their other creations here.

The boat laid on entertainment in the evenings.

Another common Tourist entertainment is the belly dancer. Unfortunately for me, this one wanted a couple of helpers. Ann delighted in taking an embarrassing video - luckily for me she does not know how to post it on the Web yet.

So very peaceful.

Time for Sundowners! The Egyptian beer was OK (i.e. a chilled lager), but I didn't get beyond a mouthful of the Egyptian wine. Ann & Jo did persevere a bit with different white & red varieties, but didn't think any bottles were worth bringing back.
