Trakai Castle

The 14th century Trakai Castle looks very romantic on its island in Lake Galve. It doesn’t seem to have been involved in any major battles and fell into disrepair in the 17th century. Reconstruction started early in the 20th century, but WWI halted progress. A lot of the reconstruction finished in the 1960’s. However when we visited there was still major works going on within the Ducal Palace part of the castle, so difficult to get many internal photos. Nevertheless it is one of the major tourist attractions of Lithuania.
