Ravello
Ravello on our last day was a great village to visit high up in the Lattari mountains with yet more fabulous views of the Amalfi coast. Beyond a walk round the pleasant small village and a cappuccino in the main piazza & some shopping, we spent most of our time wandering round the gardens of the Villa Cimbrone.
Since the 19th century Ravello has served as a magnet for artists, musicians, actors and writers, including: Joan Miro, M.C. Escher, Henry Moore, Wagner, Grieg, Bernstein, Greta Garbo, Humphrey Bogart, Virginia Woolfe, Graham Greene, Tennessee Williams, Andre Gide and many others. Oh, and Winston Churchill also stayed at the Villa Cimbrone.

Villa Cimbrone
Though the villa dates back to the 11th century, it languished in romantic obscurity and wasn’t until Lord Grimthorpe bought it early in the 20th century that it was extensively restored to its former glory. Little remains of the original building. It is now a very exclusive hotel.
