Reunification Palace

The Tank that Stopped the War

The Presidential Palace – now renamed the Reunification Palace was built in 1966 and served as the nerve centre of the South’s military co-ordination  of the Vietnam War. The iconic tank is a replica of one of the ones that broke through the gates of the Presidential Palace and parked outside the entrance, thus ending the war. The building is a time-warp as nothing has changed in it since then.

I found the style of the building very interesting. A mix of Western styled halls connected by corridors which are largely open to the elements. I liked the bamboo motifs of the window decorations.
