Elaphiti Islands

Visiting the three main Elaphiti Islands made for a great day out. Kolocep is the smallest of the three and along with the next largest, Lopud is a car-free island. Sipan is the largest of the islands – but is still only less than 16 Km2 in size.

Lopud

The photo on the left is a view of Lopud harbour, looking West towards Sipan.
The photo on the right shows a view looking East towards the very shallow Sunj bay.

Walking across Lopud, I came across this simple, striking farmer’s chapel.
Sipan

Ann in front of the fortress-like Skocibuha Summer residence. This residence was owned by the inappropriately named, Vice Skocibuha. It has the whiff of Dracula about it.

Church of the Holy Spirit. A heavily fortified Church. Note the very high secure windows.
The church is very plain inside.

The roof of the church has been strengthened so that it can be used for defensive purposes.
