Malta Various Views

Mdina is the old capital of Malta, picturesquely perched on a hill. The roads within the city walls are very narrow, so it is traffic free!

Mary & me at the main entrance to Mdina.

Some of the grand palaces & buildings in Midna rival those in Valletta. Many of the Doors to the old villas are interesting here. There were also lots of great balconies…..

Lots of tiny alleyways in Mdina, hence the restrictions to traffic. However Karozin, the traditional (i.e. Tourist) transport are allowed in.

Victoria Cathedral, another gem when we crossed over to Gozo.

A café in Gozo. Note the nostalgia for all things British. How many English cafes would dare have so many Royal insignias on show? We had great pastizzi (Maltese cheese cakes) here.

Ann was obviously a bit tired……

Hagar Qim is a megalithic temple complex built between 5,600 and 4,500 years ago and is the second oldest free-standing structures on earth.

Our last night. Mary, me, Martin & Ann at one of the nice restaurants – the food was great. The restaurant was run by a Maltese TV Chef – OK not quite Jamie Oliver, but the Rabbit cooked in a chocolate  sauce was different!
