We flew from Ayers Rock to Cairns for the start of our road trio down the Queensland coast. Rather than staying at Cairns we took our friend, Carrie's, advice and stayed in Trinity Beach. Thank goodness we did - it was a fabulous place & we had a great apartment with the first photo showing the view from our balcony.
We visited the village of Karunda by taking the old meandering railway up to it (1.5 hours) with breath taking views along the way. On the return journey we took one of the world's longest cable car rides back down - 7.5 Km. I lost my fear of heights on that ride - I had to!
At Kuranda Ann achieved one of her life-long ambitions & cuddled a Koala. Great fun.
The following day we went on an escorted excursion to Daintree & Cape Tribulation visiting Mossman Gorge on the way. There was a boat ride along the crocodile infested Daintree river - so no dangling one's toes in the cool river.
Finally we went to at Cape Tribulation where two UNESCO World Heritage sites meet, namely the Daintree Tropical Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
