Havana

The Plaza de la Revolucion is an enormous barren concrete space in which Fidel Castro gave many of his interminably long speeches.

A very strange city reflecting all the very conflicting historical influences from European & USA rule up to the current post-Castro era.

Cuba Reflections

The Capitolio, previously the seat of Government, is one of the main symbols of Havana.

The Castillo de la Real Fuerza was built by the Spanish to protect the city in the 16th century.

Plaza de Armas is one of the grand old Colonial squares surrounded by various historic buildings.

Close to the old port area is the Plaza de San Francisco

The Plaza Veija was previously the central square of the old city.

The Catedral de San Cristobal is a quaint Baroque cathedral.

A city of the Dead in Havana, the Necropolis Cristobal Colon houses an enormous number of fabulous monuments.

One of the main museums, the Museo de la Revolucion as its name suggests documents the Cuban revolution of the 1950’s.

The Art Deco Hotel Nacional reflects the 1930’s decadent life style for which the city was notorious.

The back streets of Old Havana are great to stroll through.
