Because of the heat, we kept in the shade as much as we could.

An early Christian church built on the site known as the workshop of Pheidias – note the cross in the stonework. It was here that Pheidias made the gigantic statue of Zeus for the Temple at Olympia, which was one of the original Seven Wonders of The World.

Well if we are at the original Olympic  running track, then why not have a race? A local Greek visitor, decided to join in the fun – but sensibly decided to act as referee, rather than participate – not surprising seeing as how the temperature was in the mid 40 degrees!

Even the “mad dogs” kept out of the midday sun on that day.
