Greece 2000 – Epidaurus

Greece Photos:
Built in the 4th century BC, it is one of the best preserved large Greek theatres with spectacular views as well. (Note the above photo is from Wikipedia)

The acoustics are superb. You really can hear someone whispering on the stage from the top row. Eleanor & John giving an impromptu performance.

There was a Greek Festival being conducted when we were in the Peloponnese, so one evening we took the opportunity to see Ajax by Sophocles, in the original Greek at Epidaurus. Luckily Eleanor & Mark made use of their Classics backgrounds & could help us follow the performance.

The police filing in were not there for any crowd control duty – but to be spectators.
A panoramic view. Obviously this was in the days prior to digital “stitching”.
